Carp Fishing in Northern FranceFrance has quickly become the carp fishing capital of Europe and in particular Northern France. Whilst researching the amount of carp fishing lakes and organisations offering carp fishing holidays in France i wondered why Northern France has been so succesful for fishing holidays. What has Northern France got that draws thousands of carp fisherman from all over europe year after year? France and in particular rural France is beautiful, miles and miles of rolling countryside, rivers and of course lakes. Places that have not changed in years and have un-rivalled peace and quiet. The climate in Northern France is almost identical to Southern England and therefore it cannot be the sunshine whichs draws the fisherman over, likewise food is not any cheaper although wine is. So what is it? As a keen carp fisherman myself i have had the privalege of fishing other venues, some beautiful and some not so nice. Therefore i can only give my opinion on why i think Northern France has been such a carp fishermans dream based on our venue E'tang de Campas. The first and obvious answer is the size of the carp, there are various opinions on this but we believe the size difference of the carp is because of various reasons, the first and main reason is that the carp or should i say the lakes are not pressured like UK lakes. Our carp lake for example has an average of 4 fisherman per week fishing at the lake for 30 weeks a year. Compare that to a similiar size lake in the Uk that is fished for 52 weeks per year, i would imagine it averages ten times as many fisherman. The second reason is that in France we can stock our lakes with carp from across europe, unlike in the UK where carp cannot be purchased from europe and only from Uk fish farms in France we can purchase fish from countries with warmer climates like, southern France, Spain, Italy and other southern European countries. The warmer climates produce bigger carp and carp that are younger than an equivalent British carp of similar size. There are many other reasons and another major factor is the ability to hire an entire carp lake for yourself & your party. It is very rare in the Uk to be able to rent an entire carp fishery to yourself and therefore it becomes desirable to spend a week carp fishing with nobody around apart from your family and friends. At E'tang de Campas we have developed a carp fishery to provide excellent fishing, beautiful surroundings, excellent lakeside accommodation and endless peace & quiet. weather you are fishing or simply relaxing with your family, Northern France has so much to offer and without doubt some of the best carp fishing in the world. |
